We obtain the 4th position in two of the MICCAI 2017 conference challenges

The 14th of september, VICOROB presented two convolutional neural network methods to the iSeg and White Matter Hyperintensities challenges from the MICCAI 2017 conference. The first challenge was aimed at segmenting brain tissues from infant brain MRI, while the second one was aimed at segmenting vascular white matter hyperintensities of adult brain MRI. The first approach was presented orally by Jose Bernal and the second one was presented orally and as a poster by Mariano Cabezas. Premiats a la competició internacional de detecció automàtica de lesions d’esclerosi múltiple MICCAI 2016

Busy month for the Medical Imaging group

Kick-off meeting of the SMARTER project

Breast cancer screening based on mammography (MG) has had a major impact on reducing mortality at affordable cost. However, overdiagnosis, overtreatment, and the lack of sensitivity of mammography, especially in women with dense breasts, need to be addressed to improve screening. More effective screening cannot be achieved with the generalised use of MG for all the population; personalisation is required where the density of a womans breasts or increased cancer risk is assessed prior to determining whether or not additional imaging (i.e. magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), 3D ultrasound (ABUS), or tomosynthesis (DBT)) is necessary.
