Vicorob hosted the visit of Yago D\u00edez<\/b>, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science of Yamagata University,<\/a>\u00a0within the framework of a research stay aimed at strengthening scientific collaboration and knowledge transfer between international research groups.<\/div>\n

During his stay, D\u00edez delivered the seminar \u201cComputer Vision and Deep Learning techniques to solve practical problems\u201d<\/i>, where he addressed the gap between the academic development of computer vision<\/b>\u00a0and deep learning methods<\/b>\u00a0and their deployment in real-world settings. The talk emphasized practical case studies, including drone image processing and algorithms for the interpretation of ancient Japanese documents, highlighting the factors that determine whether research outcomes are effectively transferred beyond academic publications.<\/div>\n

The applications presented span high-impact domains such as ecology (biodiversity estimation, tree species census, and biomass assessment) and cultural heritage preservation through the development of large-scale databases of historical documents.<\/p>\n
