These last three month were different. The past 23th of September I took the plane to London to spend the last part of the year working at UCL<\/a> (University College of London). Located at the center of London, UCL is one of the main European universities (with more than 30000 students and up to 6000 researchers). With professor Niloy Mitra<\/strong> I began an interesting project about applying 3D registration<\/strong> methods for environment reconstruction. The main idea is apply these methods to rescue robots in order to achieve good 3D reconstructions<\/strong> without any sensor or extra information.<\/p>\n

My London experience was very special. This city is very huge and there are a lot of people. As a center of European capitalism London is the main destination of many people coming from around the world looking for an opportunity. The results are impossible rents, very expensive public transport, many companies, rich people and also people without resources. The upside is that universities have more money (and free coffee!!!) and this fact influences the research quality.
\nIt was a very great experience and I learnt a lot!. The only thing that I will not miss is the weather!<\/p>\n

Aquests tres \u00faltims mesos han sigut diferents. El passat 23 de setembre vaig agafar l’avi\u00f3 cap a Londres per passar l’\u00faltim trimestre de l’any treballant a la UCL (University College of London). Situada al mig de la capital anglesa, la UCL \u00e9s una de les principals universitats europees (compta amb m\u00e9s de 30000 estudiants i prop de 6000 investigadors). Sota la supervisi\u00f3 del professor Niloy Mitra vaig comen\u00e7ar un projecte molt interessant que consistia a aplicar m\u00e8todes de registre 3D per tal de fer reconstrucci\u00f3 de l’entorn. Aquest projecte est\u00e0 pensat per ser aplicat en robots de rescat terrestres amb la idea d’aconseguir una reconstrucci\u00f3 3D de l’entorn del robot sense ajuda de cap sensor ni de cap informaci\u00f3 extra.<\/em><\/p>\n


\nL’experi\u00e8ncia de viure a Londres \u00e9s especial. La ciutat \u00e9s molt gran i hi ha molta (molta) gent. S’hi mouen molts diners i aix\u00f2 fa que tothom hi vingui a buscar la seva oportunitat. El resultat s\u00f3n lloguers impossibles, transport car\u00edssim, moltes empreses, gent molt rica i gent amb molt pocs recursos. Londres \u00e9s b\u00e0sicament la central del capitalisme europeu. La part bona d’aix\u00f2 \u00e9s que les universitats tenen bastants m\u00e9s recursos (tenen caf\u00e8 gratis!!!) i aix\u00f2 influeix en la qualitat de la recerca.<\/em><\/p>\n


\nHa sigut una experi\u00e8ncia molt bona i he apr\u00e8s molt. L’\u00fanic que no trobar\u00e9 a faltar ser\u00e0 el temps!<\/em><\/p>\n
