Held annually, the conference joins experts in the <strong>robotic community<\/strong> for technical communications through presentations and discussions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year, the <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.12\">ICRA<\/span> was held from 20-24 May 2019 at The <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.13\">Palais<\/span> <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.14\">des<\/span> <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.15\">congr\u00e8s<\/span> <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.16\">de<\/span> <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.17\">Montr\u00e9al<\/span> in Canada. <a href=\"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/vicorob\/members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.18\">Narc\u00eds<\/span> <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.19\">Palomeras<\/span><\/a>, postdoctoral researcher, and <a href=\"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/vicorob\/members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eduard Vidal<\/a>, PhD student (both members of the <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.20\">ViCOROB<\/span> team) participated in the conference presenting two publications related to 3D autonomous underwater exploration and motion planning. The work from Eduard Vidal is the result of its PhD collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rice.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rice University<\/a> and was one of the three publications nominated for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icra2019.org\/program\/awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICRA\u2019s Best Student Paper Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6999\" src=\"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"785\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019_2.png 785w, https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019_2-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019_2-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udg.edu\/ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.21\">UdG<\/span><\/a> also participated in two of the workshops organized at the conference. <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.22\">Narc\u00eds<\/span> presented \u201c<strong>Real-time Laser Scanner for Autonomous <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.23\">IMR<\/span> applications<\/strong>\u201d in the Underwater Robotics Perception workshop, and Eduard presented \u201c<strong>LOON-DOCK: <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.24\">AUV<\/span> homing and docking for high-bandwidth data transmission<\/strong>\u201d in the Approaching Residency of Marine Robots for Deep-Sea Research workshop.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The participation in the 2019 <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.25\">ICRA<\/span> was also an opportunity to meet former <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.26\">ViCOROB<\/span> members, such as Juan David <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.27\">Hern\u00e1ndez<\/span>, now at Rice University, and Emili <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.28\">Hern\u00e1ndez<\/span>, now at <span id=\"gmail-m_-4582770186826098121:5fd.29\">CSIRO<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6997\" src=\"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"785\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019.png 785w, https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ICRA_2019-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) is the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society\u2019s flagship conference.
