The IEEE<\/span> International Conference on Robotics and Automation<\/a> (ICRA<\/span>) is the IEEE<\/span> Robotics and Automation Society\u2019s flagship conference. Held annually, the conference joins experts in the robotic community<\/strong> for technical communications through presentations and discussions.<\/p>\n

This year, the ICRA<\/span> was held from 20-24 May 2019 at The Palais<\/span> des<\/span> congr\u00e8s<\/span> de<\/span> Montr\u00e9al<\/span> in Canada. Narc\u00eds<\/span> Palomeras<\/span><\/a>, postdoctoral researcher, and Eduard Vidal<\/a>, PhD student (both members of the ViCOROB<\/span> team) participated in the conference presenting two publications related to 3D autonomous underwater exploration and motion planning. The work from Eduard Vidal is the result of its PhD collaboration with Rice University<\/a> and was one of the three publications nominated for the ICRA\u2019s Best Student Paper Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The UdG<\/span><\/a> also participated in two of the workshops organized at the conference. Narc\u00eds<\/span> presented \u201cReal-time Laser Scanner for Autonomous IMR<\/span> applications<\/strong>\u201d in the Underwater Robotics Perception workshop, and Eduard presented \u201cLOON-DOCK: AUV<\/span> homing and docking for high-bandwidth data transmission<\/strong>\u201d in the Approaching Residency of Marine Robots for Deep-Sea Research workshop.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The participation in the 2019 ICRA<\/span> was also an opportunity to meet former ViCOROB<\/span> members, such as Juan David Hern\u00e1ndez<\/span>, now at Rice University, and Emili Hern\u00e1ndez<\/span>, now at CSIRO<\/span>.<\/p>\n
