{"id":7640,"date":"2020-11-06T09:09:24","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T09:09:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/?p=7640"},"modified":"2020-11-06T09:09:24","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T09:09:24","slug":"marine-robotics-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vicorob.udg.edu\/ca\/marine-robotics-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Marine robotics research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COVID-19 has closed educational institutions and jobs, distance learning has become the new norm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, on September 15, 18 and 30, 2020, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuni.fi\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Tampere<\/a> team<\/strong> participated in a remote TNA as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eumarinerobots.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>EUMR project<\/strong><\/a>. Due to Covid\u2019s situation, they were unable to travel to our facilities but online solutions were found and experiments took place\u00a0as originally planned.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the experiment was to test a series of<strong> controllers<\/strong> designed by Tampere team for the <strong>Girona500<\/strong> and to collect data from <strong>Mechanical Scanning Imaging Sonar<\/strong> (MSIS) with the aim of including in a near future an obstacle avoidance for their controller.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the preparation days in the<strong> water tank<\/strong>, they were given full access to a computer connected to Girona500 AUV to upload and execute their code. To coordinate the <strong>experiments<\/strong> and have visual feedback on what was happening at the water tank, a video call was maintained during all the tests.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once the<strong> experiments<\/strong> were prepared, the <strong>UdG team<\/strong> moved to Sant Feliu de Guixols&#8217; harbor to execute them in a more realistic environment.
