NEW PROJECT: ICEBERG

juliol 1, 2019

On June 20th, the kick off meeting of the project ICEBERG- Image Computing for Enhancing Breast Cancer Radiomics  took place at the University of Girona. The project is coordinated by Dr. Robert Martí from the VICOROB institute, with a multi-disciplinar team of researchers from the University of Girona, Parc Tauli (Sabadell), Clinica Girona, Hospital Trueta (Girona) and Universidad Complutense (Madrid).

That project is funded by the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion, y Universidades under the Retos 2018 programme, and has a support of the companies @VolparaDensity and @screenpointmed. The objective is to develop novel radiomic features based on the analysis of breast images taking into account lesions and glandular structure. Those radiological features will be used to develop methods for the detection and classification of breast cancer molecular sub-types, specially triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). Algorithms developed will be based on deep learning techniques using state of the art GPU systems and paradigms focusing on adversarial networks and variations of convolutional neural networks (CNNs).

The aim of kick off was to give a formal start of the project, introduce the research team to all project members and review the project tasks and start working on the data acquisition work packages.
