octubre 20, 2020

This year the conference was plan to be held in Singapore and the Gulf Coast. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization decided to organize a virtual conference instead.

Global Oceans 2020 is the event for global maritime professionals to learn, innovate and lead in the protection and utilization of the world’s largest natural resource.

Eduardo Ochoa, a doctoral student under the supervision of Dr.Ā Rafa GarcĆa, presented hisĀ paper and posterĀ that reports the resultsĀ of his research on how to detect obstacles with an omnidirectional camera mounted in a ROV and then predict the risk thatĀ each obstacle has to perform avoidance maneuvers. His research topic isĀ Allowing untrained scientists to safely pilot ROV’s: Early collision detectionĀ and avoidance using omnidirectional vision.

Not only was the work accepted for presentation at the conference, it was also selected as one of the three finalists for theĀ Student Poster Competition program, receiving very positive feedback from the community.
