The contribution of the thesis is the development of a new Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) framework capable of detecting, segmenting, and classifying breast abnormalities on sonography automatically. Firstly, an adaption of a generic object detection method, Deformable Part Models (DPM), to detect lesions in sonography is proposed. PANDORA FP7 2nd annual review in Girona

Next thursday the 6th of March it will take the 2nd annual review of the PANDORA FP7 project funded on the Cognitive Robotics topic.   Researchers from the 5 participating entities will gather in Girona to present to the EC officer and reviewers the work done in the last year. On friday, an advisory board from industrial world will give advise to the consortium regarding the commercial possibilities of the created technologies.   More info about PANDORA

Girobòtica: a robotics competition for children!

Next Sunday at 9:30 pm, there will be the first edition of Girobòtica, a project of the University of Girona (Girona) with support from the Department of Education, for children of primary school (from between 6 and 12 years) from schools throughout the surroundings of Girona. The competition promotes teamwork, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship among children. This initiative aims to arouse the curiosity of children and encourage interest in science and technology.   The project propses a challenge so children together (organized in teams of up to 4 members), reflect, analyze, investigate and propose new ideas to solve it.  …

ROBOACADEMY kick-off meeting in Bremen

Today it takes place the kick off meeting of ROBOACADEMY – “European Academy for Marine and Underwater Robotics”, FP7-PEOPLE-2013-ITN, in Bremen.   The Robocademy ITN will establish a European training and research network to develop key skills and enabling technologies in underwater robotics for the scientific and economic exploration of the oceans (e.g. offshore oilfield of the future).
