Research
Operating across three cutting-edge research laboratories with a dedicated team of technical and administrative professionals, VICOROB is structured into three consolidated groups, each endorsed with research support seals (SGR) from the Generalitat de Catalunya. These groups comprise the CIRS – Robotics and Underwater Vision Research Group (2021 SGR 01351), AIA Advanced Image Analysis (2021 SGR 01196), and UdiGitalEdu: Creative Learning, STEAM, and Social Change (2021 SGR 01596).
Research Labs
Underwater vision and robotics
Girona Underwater Vision and Robotics team has become a benchmark in Europe for the design and construction of autonomous underwater vehicles, and the development of cutting edge software for the processing of visual and acoustic data.
Medical Imaging
The Image Analysis lab is committed to developing and optimizing methods (including both hardware and software developments) for analysis of data, with particular focus on the study of medical images. To this end, we develop computer algorithms which include techniques such as image segmentation, pattern recognition, object detection and characterization, statistical signal processing, and registration.
Educational Robotics
We design learning experiences for children and young people to help them become more creative, critical and develop positive values. The team develops projects at a local, national and international level, and focuses on disadvantaged groups and children from vulnerable families and communities.
